Standard 5: Digital Citizenship
Standard 5: Digital Citizenship, focuses on the leadership in regards to digital citizenship, and the social, ethical, and legal ramifications in regards to its establishment, or lack thereof. More specifically, the standard addresses the need for equitable access to the digital resources for the learners of the community, policies for the use of technology in regards to social, ethical, and legal norms, and the promotion of and modeling of these expected norms The standard also looks at social interactions that are promoted and modeled by leadership and the development of a digital learning community that is culturally ept, and that explores the broader social world and global impacts of having a socially, ethically, and legally sound digital communities. Finally, the standard looks at the digital community in regards to communication and collaboration that is global in nature. The focus of this standard, is clearly ensuring that the real-life community, that the digital community supports, has equitable access to the technology and a shared opportunity to establish social, ethical, and legal digital norms and values.
