Project - Camtasia
This video will be used for eighth grade Pre-Algebra and Algebra students while working in the unit on slope. They will access this video via our Google Classroom, where it will remain available to them for the duration of the unit. The screencast content was produced using a PowerPoint presentation. I have eliminated my talking head when working through the examples to avoid cognitive overload. To align my project with the Redundancy Principle, I have eliminated extra words by using key words that coincide with my narration. To ensure that my presentation is aligned to the Personalization Principle, I used a talking head when not working an example and a conversational tone throughout. The Coherence Principle is followed by not adding extra music or pictures throughout the tutorial. I used the pan and zoom effect to ensure that the Contiguity Principle was followed, and that callouts were in proximity to the items the were intended to showcase. This also eliminated extraneous processing for the students. With the video aligning to the CRAP principles I was able to minimize extraneous processing by leaving key information in the same areas on each slide.
CRAP - To ensure there was contrast, I used red arrows to show where the students should actually be doing something, either counting or finding an intercept. Repetition is showcased through the use of red arrows, and the use of consistent vocabulary. All bullets are aligned, and the talking head and graphs are located in the same position on each slide to eliminate the learner needing to look for key information. All examples are zoomed in on and worked so that proximity can be maximized.
